Career fairs provide opportunities for students

Updated: Mar 16, 2019

Some Cambodian youths aren’t sure what they should study at university, while others worry how to get a fulfilling job. Some organisations, associations and education centres create those opportunities for students with education training courses and career fairs.

One particular career fair is hosted by the Fulbright and Undergraduate State Alumni Association of Cambodia (FUSAAC) whose Fulbright scholars had studied in the US with support from the US government. Sopha Ratana, operations director at Ocean Technology Co. Ltd and an active alumna and member of FUSAAC said, “We create this event to let youths gain more knowledge and skills for Cambodia’s job market. Some students don’t know what they should study and what kind of job that they can do after graduating from University.”

“It’s not only providing knowledge to the youth but also giving companies the chance to talk about what they expect from employees,” he added.

Experts from companies, organisations and education centers are invited to the career fair to share their careers and experience, and students are encouraged to ask questions.

Nak Srydanith, an architect for MEQ Corporation Co, said, “I used to attend career fairs to find jobs. It’s a good opportunity and lets people know more about Cambodia’s job market and the experience they will need to work for that company.”

Career fairs can lead Cambodia’s youth in job experience so they can prepare themselves to be actively involved in the job market in the future.
